3: Customizing a Testing Solution for Key Senior Management

Business Challenge: A large manufacturing company needed to identify and hire top-level Managers, being sure to maintain a high level of talent -- both mental ability and personality -- in their leadership team.
RA Solution: We started with our pre-validated assessments for Executive / Senior Manager. RA worked with the client to customize these assessments by adding new dimensions that were particularly relevant at their company. Per the client’s request, then RA did the necessary calculations and programming changes to report aptitude in terms of "Estimated IQ scores." Finally, RA worked with the client to develop wording of open-ended questions.
To create new measures, it was necessary to analyze data from a large number of respondents. The client company cooperated by having 200 of their managers throughout the corporation take the assessment so that RA could evaluate the reliability of each scale. Based on archival test data they had in their files, we were also able to evaluate the validity of each personality dimension and the estimated IQ scores.
Results: Because the client had tested current staff to establish company-specific norms, the managers who use these reports to evaluate outside job candidates have a great deal of confidence in the results.
